I have to say that I am fully on board the colored jean train for spring. I especially love the pastel hues which is odd because I’ve never been a fan of Easter egg colors. The problem I’m having is that I know pastel jeans only have so much staying power. They will not become a wardrobe staple and I imagine that come spring 2013, I will be tired of this look. So what’s a girl on a budget to do? My MO when it comes to trendy clothes is to buy an inexpensive version and to limit myself to one (and if I just can’t help myself, two) of the trendy item. Right now I’m considering the J. Crew toothpick in bright papaya and possibly this pair at Urban Outfitters but I haven’t committed yet because what I’m hoping to find is a lavender pair that looks something like this. My plan is to wear the jeans with simple sweaters, chambray tops, and oversize t-shirts paired with sparkly necklaces/bracelets.

A great example of color-blocking. Teal, lavender, navy, orange, and red! I’ve been seeing a lot of bright oranges and soft lavenders for spring - two colors that are beautiful but not always easy to wear. The ample use of navy, a hue that anyone can pull off and that never goes out of fashion, helps temper the harder-to-wear colors.

My “dress prettier” resolution has not been going too well. I’ve fallen into old habits like skinny jeans, baggy knits, and converse sneakers but after seeing this photo of Alexa Chung from London Fashion Week, I plan to recommit to the ladylike aesthetic.

A bright red bag has just been added to my wishlist. I’ve recently seen a number of cherry-hued purses online and in life and think the bold statement is ideal for someone like me who tends to dress in blacks and grays. Although a red purse is not an everyday bag, the right purse worn in the right way looks contemporary and chic. Also, NY fashion week kicks off tomorrow! :)

Anonymous asked: Do you know what size and color PS1 Lauren Santo Domingo wears in the photo with in the photo from back in 2010 (May 5). It is a neutral and I have always liked it.

Lauren Santo Domingo was one of the first women in the style set to adopt (and be photographed with) the PS1 bag after it was introduced in late 2008. In the photo from May 5, 2010, Ms. Santo Domingo is sporting a medium leather PS1. The exact color is not something I can determine. I imagine that, similar to the Balenciaga bags, most colors are limited edition and sold only for one season. There is a similar neutral (grey/beige) PS1 currently available at Barneys. It is slightly more beige-y while LSD’s appears more griege-y.

I’ve featured this Isabel Marant skirt before but here it is again (I just can’t get enough). A perfectly appointed white tank and leather jacket along with daring ankle boots give this ensemble a “cool french girl” feel. I love how the vibrant pink of the little Balenciaga bag and the messy braid takes the outfit from tough to girly.
